In five days of live, it raised 1 million euros. From May 31 to June 5, streamer Baghera Jones used the Twitch platform, on which she has been operating since 2018, to raise a charitable campaign “in support of the Palestinian population in Gaza and the West Bank”: Streamers4Palestinians.

More than forty Internet personalities, including journalists Clément Viktorovitch and Samuel Etienne and streamers Ponce, Antoine Daniel and the Joueur du Grenier, took turns to host these five days of live broadcasts. The prize pool will be entirely donated to Médecins du Monde. But who is Baghera Jones who, at the age of 29, is one of the 10 most watched streamers in France?

Nearly 6 years after embarking on the Twitch adventure, she is one of the most watched personalities on the platform with her sisters Maghla and Deujna. Born on January 6, 1995 in Neuchâtel in Switzerland and of Spanish origin, Justine Noguera – her real name – first got into graphic design, without having finished high school. In 2018, inspired by the gamer MisterMV, she took her first steps on Twitch by playing the games Oblivion or Trackmania. But it was only a year later, with the Z Event, ZeratoR’s charity marathon, that the gamer based in Montpellier moved to the forefront of French streaming, accumulating more and more subscribers to the point to reach more than 640,000 today.

“[Le stream] doesn’t require a lot of tools, the only thing that was important was having a good sound. I saved up for a good mic and went for it. It didn’t bother me right away. I didn’t know the community aspect of video games.”, Baghera Jones in 2019 at The Dispatch.

In parallel with his streams, Baghera Jones is the victim of sexist behavior in the very masculine environment of Twitch. At the end of 2022, she joined the wave of testimonies launched by the streamer Maghla: “Being a woman means ‘having to’ prepare to be sexualized and threatened during our lives”, she laments on move because of “visits to his apartment”.

Boosted among other things by the success of her GTA games in 2021, Baghera Jones is increasingly participating in events organized by other streamers and YouTubers, notably ZEvent 2022 where she raises more than €160,000 on her stream for ecological associations.

In 2023, she will participate in the Squeezie GP Explorer 2, where many personalities have raced in Formula 4 on the 24-hour circuit of Le Mans. For the occasion, she took her license and obtained it a few months before.

In 2024, it is thanks to the bridge created by the YouTuber Michou between television and the internet with his show “Dancing with the Internet Stars”, broadcast both on TF1 and YouTube, that Baghera Jones is experiencing a new surge in popularity . Eliminated after the second round despite a real success with Internet users, the Swiss streamer nevertheless congratulated herself on having overcome her apprehension and pushed her limits.

More recently, she participated in Konbini’s Small Talk live, with David Castello-Lopez. But it was following the bombing of the Rafah refugee camp that she returned to her beginnings, organizing a charity event on Twitch to support Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

“We didn’t expect such a result, we are super proud to be supported by this community,” Joël Weiler, general director of Médecins du Monde, responded to AFP on Thursday.
