Fifth part of the famous franchise, Die Hard: Beautiful Day to Die, broadcast this Thursday June 6, 2024 at 9:10 p.m. on M6, does not reach the heights of the initial trilogy, but remains spectacular. Notably thanks to a particularly muscular sequence, which required a very long filming time.

If you like action, muscles… and tank tops, the saga Die Hard is for you! With Crystal trap (1988), the first film in the franchise and a masterpiece of action cinema, still considered the master standard of the genre. A film that made Bruce Willis a star, even though the actor almost missed what would become the role of his life. The second part of the saga, 58 minutes to live (1990), also features shootouts, chases and fights (on the wing of a 747 taking off in particular), despite a relatively mysterious title. As for A day in hell (aka Die Hard 3) released in theaters in 1995, it constitutes for many the best episode of all.

What is the last Die Hard ?

For most fans, the saga Die Hard applies especially to these first three parts, which have remained in the legend of the seventh art. The sequel is not at the level of these thunderous beginnings, but remains spectacular. So in Die Hard 4 – Return to Hell (2007), John McClane, hero of the entire franchise, fights against cyberterrorists, and in Die Hard: Beautiful Day to Die, the fifth part of the adventures of the supercop, released in theaters in 2013 and broadcast this Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 9:10 p.m. on M6, he has trouble with the Russian mafia. The film, the last in the saga to date, is notably carried by the revelation Yuliya Snigir, and is not left out in terms of action. A chase sequence in the streets of Moscow required no less than… 82 days of filming! “On the highway, in narrow streets, on bridges, destroying dozens of high-end cars along the way… It’s truly a great spectacle!” explained director John Moore in the film’s press kit.

Will there be a Die Hard 6 ?

For many aficionados, a sixth part of the saga is impatiently awaited. But it would be without Bruce Willis, eternal interpreter of John McClane. The actor is in fact suffering from dementia and ended his career in 2022. He appeared very weakened in December 2023 in a poignant video published by his daughter Scout. In February 2024, his ex-wife Demi-Moore gave rather reassuring news. Die Hard without Bruce Willis? Hard to imagine!
