Fire at the Nordic Paper factory in Limoilou: an employee slightly injured

A fire broke out Tuesday afternoon on the roof of the Nordic Paper factory, located on Boulevard in the Limoilou sector in Quebec.

The incident left one person lightly injured and required the intervention of around forty firefighters.

Around 3 p.m., firefighters were called to the scene while work was underway on the roof of the building. Employees of an external company carrying out this work saw smoke escaping from the roof.

One of the workers tried to put out the fire before help arrived, suffering burns to his hands. He was taken care of by paramedics.

When firefighters arrived, they quickly brought the fire under control. As the flames did not spread inside the building, the damage appears to be limited to the roof.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. An investigation will have to be carried out to determine the circumstances of this incident which could have had more serious consequences.

Founded in 1952, the Nordic Paper factory specializes in the manufacture of papers for the food, medical and industrial sectors, and employs just over 50 people.
