It’s what we call a win-win combo: it’s good for the wallet AND for the planet. The Rail Pass is also an opportunity to discover our beautiful region (or even our beautiful country) under the summer sun. It must be said that unlimited travel on the TER and Intercités for €49 per month is still a really good deal.
How do we get this sesame? First of all, you must be between 16 and 27 years old at the time of purchase (and not at the time of using the card). Then, you must choose the dates that interest you to take advantage of them during the authorized period, namely between July 1 and August 31. Either you buy the first month, or the second, or both, or a sliding month, like July 9 to August 9 for example.
Questions to ask yourself
Proof of age will be requested as well as an identity photo, and once the request has been validated, the Pass will be downloadable in the form of a QR code to be presented during checks on board the trains. So, do you still need to book your tickets? The answer is yes, you do as usual, you block the journeys that interest you online or at the station, except that these will not cost you a penny when you present your Rail Pass.
Can you buy tickets elsewhere than in your own region? Yes too. In fact, the Rail Pass allows you to travel as you wish on all TER networks (the only exception: Île-de-France). Please note, OUIGO, TERGV and TGV Inoui are not part of the system. So where are you going to go?
