Former professional footballer Djibril Cissé passed through a Belgian station (Gare du Midi) to go to Liège this Sunday. He was to take part in the “Circus Cup”, a charity event where 26 football legends, including Alessandro Del Piero and Edgar Davids, compete.

Everything was going well, until his particular altercation with a customs officer. On his social networks, the former French international declared: “I am shocked by the act of racism and excess of zeal that I have just experienced at the Brussels-South station by a customs officer. A full train and as if by chance he chose to check an Arab and a black man. And to top it off, he pushes me twice. Mr. customs officer, you are going to hear about me.”

This is not the first time that Djibril Cissé has denounced acts of racism against him or his family.

In 2023, he revealed that a player from the Juventus youth team had called a teammate of his son because of the color of his skin during a meeting with the Liverpool youth team. This racial insult pushed the Liverpool staff to stop the match immediately. “It’s a f*cking shame. Juventus must act immediately and firmly,” he expressed with indignation.
