Since Monday 3 and until Sunday 9 June, the heart of Celles beats to the rhythm of environment week.

The highlight of the week will take place on Sunday in the superb Feuillerie park, where the town of Celles is relocating its environment fair. An idea that is part of a long-term approach. Already last year, the environment department decided to organize a free day to allow residents of the entity to discover Baron Palick Van Hövell’s park.

Twelve months later, the formula is different since it is not only reserved for Cellois, but for all visitors who go to the Feuillerie.

If it is a question of discovering this jewel of greenery, it is also a question of environment day, a free event supposed to punctuate this week of activities. The aim of the maneuver is as much to establish this themed day in a prestigious setting as to make locals (re)discover the beauty of the Feuillerie, which attracts much more enthusiasts who come from far away than Picardy Walloons wishing to discover this place has a reputation that nevertheless goes beyond our borders. Environment day will also be health day, hence the reason for the presence of the PCS at the co-organization. “We can marvel and question environmental issues while establishing bridges with the daily health aspect. Activities such as gentle gym, Nordic walking or even a workshop on indoor pollution in our homes respond to this aspect that we are developing for the 2024 edition. “, says Marie Windels for the environment department. La Feuillerie park will open its doors from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

On the program: activities and more than 20 stands linked to biodiversity, climate, nature, health and well-being. These include the creator of Vol’o’vent nest boxes, the Rivière Escaut-Lys Contract, Årbrënkit and the Health Observatory. “Five great activities will be offered throughout the day, including Nordic walking, which will take place in the form of a walk in the park.” As for the children, they will be pampered with games focused on the discovery of nature, including an activity called “resourcefulness in nature”.

Note that 48 hours before the event, the Ferme des Aulnes hosts “Six feet under the grass”, a humorous and poetic show on our relationship with death and nature in cemeteries (Friday June 7 at 7:30 p.m.).
