Kyle Busch did not finish the race at Gateway due to a collision with Kyle Larson. Both Hendrick Motorsports and Richard Childress Racing drivers had high hopes for the Enjoy Illinois 300, but unfortunately their races were ruined by the incident.
During the second stage, Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch found themselves in a tight battle on the track. The team radio captured Larson and his team expressing frustration and blaming Busch for the accident. Larson claimed Busch walked towards him and his team agreed, calling Busch a complete idiot. Despite a flat tire, Larson managed to continue racing and finished in 10th place.
During the race at Gateway, Larson also discussed the delay in his release for missing the Coke 600 due to rain. He expressed confusion over the situation and questioned why there had been such a delay. Larson even suggested that NASCAR might need to revise its rules to accommodate him and grant him a release.
