The results of the first day of the Grand Sénonais trail

Two races were on the program for this Saturday, June 1, 2024: the 12 and 20 km. This first day ended with the departure of the Brennus (100 km) at 11 p.m. in front of Sens Cathedral.

La Sens’AS (12 kilometers) and Challenge (12 + 40 km)

The first to cross the finish line of this 6th edition of the Trail du Grand Sénonais is Guillaume Coulon (J3 Sport Amilly). The Loirétain largely dominated the competition in this 12 kilometers: “I didn’t think I would make that much of a gap. I ran at my own pace, and halfway through the race, I saw that I was ahead, so I put my foot down to finish.” Since the triathlete will double with the 40 kilometers, which starts the next day, and fight for the “challenge” ranking, the best in the combined times of the 12 and 40 kilometers. Bad news for his two pursuers, Stéphane Pouzet and Nicolas Legrand, former winners of the ultra trails and competitors for the challenge, who laughed about it at the line with these words: “we’re bad”.

Their ranking not being taken into account, the winner of this 12 kilometers is ultimately the young Swann Claudon. The 19-year-old athlete finished just under 30 seconds ahead of his runner-up and eldest, Mathieu Vallet (Sens Route Trail).

The 12 km podiums. Men: 1. Swann Claudon (unlicensed), 54’18”; 2. Mathieu Vallet (Sens Route Trail), 54’44”; 3. Franck Boidin (unlicensed), 55’18”, etc.

Women: 1. Garance Escudié Maggi (Dijon Triathlon), 1h05’31”, 2. Abigaëlle Pouzet (Sens Route Trail), 1h11’41”, 3. Victoria Pais (RST), same time, etc.

Le Petit Senon 20 kilometers

The start of the 20-kilometer Trail du Grand Sénonais 2024 at the Roger-Breton complex.

For the 20 kilometers, a duo quickly broke away from the peloton. Benoit Ribeiro and Lucas Brunon were never contacted. It was ultimately the first who made the other break down. “We were together until the 13th kilometer, and after that, I lost it,” declared the 35-year-old long-distance runner in an ironic tone. “I no longer had a leg” replied the second who presented himself for the first time on one of the trails of the Grand Sénonais.

Nice surprise among the women with the victory of Marine Pagès, not licensed and “a little surprised to be there. I gave everything, and I followed my partner. I’m really surprised to win.”

The 20 km podiums. Men: 1. Benoit Ribeiro (Trailenrouge), 1h20’58”; 2. Lucas Brunon (unlicensed), 1h22’04”; 3. Mathieu Kadri (unlicensed), 1h27’43”, etc.

Women: 1. Marine Pagès (Unlicensed), 1h51’03”, 2. Laure Barbet (UA Sens), 1h51’33”, 3. Christine Stukatsch (unlicensed), 1h52’47”, ect.
