The investigation into the grenade attack in Aubervilliers on May 23 will therefore have been well carried out. This attack left its mark, first of all by theuse of this weapon of war in the city center and by the injuries inflicted in particular on a cyclist, who was very seriously injured.
Three young men were arrested during the week and taken into custody. Two are 18 years old, and the third, still a minor, is only 17 years old. They were indicted for “attempted assassination by an organized gang”, “possession of category A weapons” and “destruction of property”. Qualifications for which they risk life imprisonment.
The investigation went quickly. About ten days ago, a cyclist and a woman were seriously injured in the street in Aubervilliers by a large Yugoslav M52 type defensive grenade. Investigations determined that the suspects were on bicycles when they dropped the grenade.
Two of them admitted their involvement. The investigation continues to determine the roles of each person as well as the motive of the sponsors, which at this stage remain unclear. The cyclist, who was most seriously injured in the face and arms, emerged from a coma. He is still hospitalized and has not yet been able to be interviewed.
