An outing supervised by a climbing club turned into drama this Saturday in Annot, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Around 4:30 p.m., a woman in her thirties, from Bouches-du-Rhône, fell 30 meters to her death while climbing a cliff. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, in particular the firefighters, a team from Samu 04, and personnel from the Jausiers high mountain gendarmerie platoon, airlifted aboard the Choucas 04 helicopter, as well as soldiers from the community of Annot’s brigades, attempts at resuscitation proved futile. The victim, whose identity has not yet been made public, was participating in an outing organized by his climbing club. The accident occurred on a site renowned for its boulders and cliffs, popular with climbing enthusiasts. According to initial information, the woman fell around ten meters, although local sources speak of 30 meters, which remains to be clarified. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragic accident.
