Stories about lottery winners who experience misery are not rare, but some at least have the merit of being original. Like this story from a 26-year-old young woman who decided to confide on Reddit what happened to her, and what it meant for her relationship with her 29-year-old boyfriend. It all started with a happy event: winning the fairly substantial sum of 45,000 euros in the lottery.
A rather large sum which, however, was the origin of a very strange conflict between the young Internet user and her boyfriend. The latter is in fact the owner of a dog, Baxter, a golden retriever. And during many hypothetical discussions about a possible lottery win and what would happen next, the couple had a lot joked about opening a savings account for the dog.

“We always joked that if I hit the jackpot, I would split it three ways between him, me and his dog.” explains the young woman. “But I always thought it was just a joke.” she specifies. The idea is in fact so incongruous that it is difficult to take it seriously… And yet. Because after winning the lottery, the 26-year-old young woman realized that
her boyfriend was far from joking on this subject, and that he really wanted his dog receives part of the winnings.
“He insists that I promised, and that Baxter needs money for his next vet bills and for his toys and anything else he might need.”. The 29-year-old man even mentioned the possibility of hiring a lawyer for his dog. Enough to push the winner to separate, worried about the kind of reaction he might have if the couple one day has a real problem more serious than this whole story…
