The festivities for the 150th anniversary of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield continue in full swing. In order to immortalize this important historical moment, the organizing committee of the festivities has put in place several activities that will leave a legacy for future generations. Among them, we can name the launch of two puzzles and a board game in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

Following a general public launch which took place at the Armand-Frappier Library this Sunday, October 6, the organizing committee of the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield 150th anniversary celebrations is marketing the board game “ Hey Campi! Do you know your story? »; a game that awakens knowledge and curiosity.

Two new 1000-piece puzzles presenting images of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield captured by Deny Cardinal were also launched at the same time. These new products, manufactured and imported by Éditions Gladius, display remarkable design quality, thereby ensuring their longevity.

« What great ideas to ensure that the history of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield remains in the memories of Campivallensiens. Thank you to the organizing committee of the 150th celebrations and to all the people who contributed directly or indirectly to these projects. These are playful and fun gifts to slip under the tree or to give to your parents or grandparents. It’s interesting, because everyone, young and old, can play it or try to complete the puzzles. said Mayor Miguel Lemieux during the launch of his games.

An educational and entertaining game

Produced thanks to the financial support of the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield Rotary Club, the 150th anniversary board game allows you to delve into the heart of the city’s history through a series of questions covering four major themes: culture, leisure and sports, development social, territory and economy as well as influential personalities, by the category who am I. To move around the game board, players will have to cross the eight districts of the city by correctly answering the questions.

« We agreed to sponsor this project because it has an educational and family component, which aligns well with the values of the Rotary Club. We are very happy to be associated with this initiative”mentioned Michel Laniel, member of the organization founded in 1945.

This game was designed to ensure the transmission of knowledge, in a fun and unifying environment. “ We can already imagine the Campivallensians coming together around the game during the holidays, mixing the generations. It will bring memories for the elderly and full of discoveries for the youngest », Mentioned the coordinator of the 150th Celebrations, Pierre Crépeau, during the launch.

Over the coming weeks, the game will be distributed to schools in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, thanks to a partnership with the Vallée-des-Tisserands School Service Center. Additional question cards adapted to a younger audience will also be offered to make certain questions more accessible for children.

Salaberry-de Valleyfield, one piece at a time

The addition of the two puzzles presenting images of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield to the 150th arrondissement souvenir shop is also a way of highlighting the pleasure of being a Campivallensian. One of his photos offers an aerial view of downtown Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, showcasing the town’s nautical and recreational attributes. The second photograph features a stunning shot of the fireworks from the 150th opening ceremony, as well as the illuminated YetiFest Ferris wheel.

The game, from writing the questions to its design, required two years of work. Several editors put their personal touches on the questions divided into five difficulty levels.

The items are on sale now at the Denis-Lapointe building at the Recreational and Community Service, at the MUSO as well as at the Boyer Bookstore at a cost of $35 for the games and $25 for the puzzles. Prices include taxes. These new items can also be purchased during the 150th anniversary events.
