Death of detainees in a Coyah gendarmerie: the anger of Me Frédéric Foromo Loua

The death of three prisoners in the disciplinary premises of the Coyah police and gendarmerie services, between Sunday and Monday, provoked the anger of the founding president of the human rights NGO, Same Rights for All ( MDT). Speaking to Mosaiqueguinee.com, Mr. Frédéric Foromo Loua believes that what happened in the town of Coyah in recent days reflects disrespect for the basic principles of detention in Guinea.

“What is happening in Coyah is unacceptable, it is a denial of justice, it is disrespect for the basic principles of detention. In Coyah, there is no prison since the prison was attacked”he recalled.

For this lawyer registered with the Guinean bar, the current situation must lead the authorities to build new prisons in the area as quickly as possible, by providing the necessary security measures or to enlarge the cells in the police custody centers.

“We are trying to enlarge the cells a little at police stations or gendarmes so that the people who are detained are in minimum conditions which respect human life (..). The way prisoners are detained in the police and gendarmerie services in Coyah does not meet standards”he blurted.

Even if he admits that those responsible for these services must be faced with their responsibilities, he believes, however, that means must be brought together to find them an ideal framework so that they can receive people awaiting trial with dignity. by the Coyah court.
