the movement promises to be very popular in the Hautes-Alpes

The majority of pharmacies in Hautes-Alpes will be closed this Thursday, May 30. Seven pharmacies were requisitioned.

“99% of pharmacies will be on strike!” This spectacular figure is immediately released by Patrick Tabouret, president of the Union of Community Pharmacists’ Unions in the Hautes-Alpes, on the other end of the phone. And for good reason, the majority of pharmacies will be closed this Thursday, May 30.

Seven pharmacies were requisitioned in order to ensure a minimum form of service in the department.

Pharmacists worried

Haut-Alpes professionals are particularly worried about the evolution of the profession of community pharmacist. The anxieties are the same as on a national scale: economic difficulties amplified by soaring prices, but also the possibility that online sales will be increasingly favored.

To the detriment of the territorial network, essential in a rural territory like the Hautes-Alpes.

“We do not want a future where our patients will have to drive 50 kilometers before finding a pharmacy,” fears Patrick Tabouret.

A demonstration in Gap

This Thursday, May 30, a demonstration is therefore planned in addition to the strike. The rally is planned in Gap early in the morning at the Europe roundabout, before the procession sets off through the streets of the city center.

It is also planned that a delegation of pharmacists will be received by the general secretariat of the prefecture at the end of the morning. Pharmacists are hopeful of making their grievances heard by state services.

It’s about marking the occasion, especially since this type of movement is rather rare in the profession.

“The last times were in 2017 and 2014. Already for the same reasons,” remembers Patrick Tabouret, who hopes that this day will make his voice heard.
