Snail operation of VTCs in Montpellier: slowdowns to be expected throughout the day

Snail operation for Montpellier VTCs this Tuesday, May 7: fifty drivers left Grammont this morning. The procession will make two stops, in front of the Town Hall and at Peyrou.

Leaving Grammont at 9:30 a.m., the VTC (tourist vehicles with driver) headed this morning towards the Town Hall, where they will remain parked for a few tens of minutes. They will then cross Boulevard d’Orient, go up Avenue de la Liberté then park again at Peyrou.

The organizers have planned a circuit longer than that of the previous snail operation on January 15, where there were around a hundred. “Even if we are fewer in number, our action will be much more impactful” says Rosa.

“We are ignored”

The prefecture will receive the Montpellier VTC Federation at 4 p.m. From the town hall, still no news: “We are being completely ignored, even though the idea is just to be received,” laments Antoine, one of the drivers participating in the snail operation. “The Town Hall and the Metropolis are, however, largely involved in our demands,” adds Rosa.

Among their requests, VTCs wish to obtain access to the city center and around train stations and the airport. They also demand greater flexibility from law enforcement. They seem exhausted by the comparison with taxis: “We complement each other, our customers do not have the same means,” explains Rosa.
