The Republican candidate for the November election made the remarks on Saturday during a meeting with leaders of his party at his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida (southeast), according to an audio recording provided to American media by a campaign donor.
Targeted by four separate criminal proceedings, including one for which he has been appearing since April 15 in New York, Donald Trump repeatedly denounces a “witch hunt” hatched by the Democratic administration to eliminate him from the presidential race .
In front of an audience of Republican executives and donors, he accused the Democrats on Saturday of “running a Gestapo-like administration,” and once again vilified the prosecutors who are investigating the cases against him, according to comments cited by the media.
Joe Biden’s campaign responded in a statement on Sunday, saying that the Republican candidate’s tirades only confirmed that “Trump’s campaign only revolves around him, his fury, his revenge and his lies.”
