His parents “deeply touched”
More than 8,000 people responded, indicated the prefect of Indre, Thibault Lanxade, Parisian. A city press release stated that Matisse’s family was “deeply touched by all the expressions of sympathy received.” Then added that the teenager’s relatives invited “all participants to show respect throughout the route so that the walk takes place in a peaceful and united spirit.”
For his part, Matisse’s dad made it clear that he did not want any political recovery. And for good reason, the day before the march, Friday evening, a small ultra-right group had posted banners in front of the town hall of Châteauroux, with the inscription, “Justice for Matisse” And “French wake up”. An operation quickly dissolved by the police, indicated the prefect of Indre. “There were around ten of them. They unfurled their banners and left”he explained.
More than 8000 people gathered
The approximately 8,000 people traveled several symbolic places for the family of young Matisse: his school, his father’s restaurant or even the establishment in which he did his apprenticeship.
