A 15-year-old boy from the Bathurst area has died following a collision between two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) on Friday.
There RCMP was called to the scene of the collision, on Route 11 near Beresford, shortly after 10:20 p.m.
According to law enforcement, the accident occurred after one of the drivers, a 15-year-old teenager, lost control of his vehicle. Mountain biking. The latter was slightly injured during the collision and was treated at the scene.
His passenger, who was the same age, died at the scene of the accident.
A third 15-year-old was at the controls of the second Mountain biking involved in the collision. The latter was sent to hospital to be treated for serious injuries, but his life is not feared.
The teenager at the controls of the first Mountain biking was arrested and released on Friday. He will appear in court in September.
An investigator from the RCMP specialized in collision reconstruction, visited the scene.
The New Brunswick Coroner’s Office is also collaborating in the investigation.
