“Israel’s security is not negotiable,” warns the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu
In an interview with Point broadcast on Wednesday, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, returned to the situation in the Middle East. “We must first know how to name the responsibilities behind the agenda of insecurity and destabilization in the region: it is carried by Tehran and its proxies”he denounced in particular, designating in particular Hezbollah, the Shiite militias in Iraq and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
For the Minister of the Armed Forces, reappointed despite the change of Prime Minister, “Israel’s security is non-negotiable”. But like Michel Barnier during his general policy declaration on Tuesday, Sébastien Lecornu is calling again “to the ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon”.
“We must also very clearly call on Israel to its responsibilities in terms of respecting international law and protecting civilian populations”he said in this interview. The Minister of the Armed Forces also specifies that “seven hundred French soldiers” are currently in southern Lebanon “under UN mandate, serving de-escalation efforts and compliance with United Nations resolutions”.
