Usually, debates between vice-presidential candidates have little impact on the presidential election, but this time, the duel could have a significant impact, several experts believe. White House hopefuls Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are neck and neck, according to polls, and a good or bad performance from their running mate could influence the vote, with only a few tens of thousands of votes cast could decide the winner from the loser.

The stakes are all the greater as it will likely be the last debate of the presidential campaign. Voters will therefore have a final chance to hear, at prime time, the parties’ positions on major issues, such as the economy, immigration and abortion.
