A foundation plans to screen 7,000 women in Odienné for breast cancer

Abidjan- The “Damsarr” Foundation plans to screen 7,000 women in the commune of Odienné, during the “Pink October” awareness campaign against breast cancer from October 20 to 26, 2024 at the town hall of the said locality.

The information was delivered during the gala dinner which aimed to reward the winners of the Plateau Dokui fraternity tournament, Sunday September 29, 2024 in Cocody-Abidjan.

On this occasion, the president of Damsarr Fondation, Ange Touré, explained that all of the initiatives are part of the foundation’s commitment which aims to be as close as possible to populations, especially those in unfavorable situations.

“In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, we want to travel to Odienné to raise awareness among these women who have difficulty accessing health services about breast cancer. We plan to bring together 7,000 women to have them screened against this silent killer,” declared Ms. Touré.

As a prelude to this awareness and free screening campaign followed by the donation of a complete loincloth to each woman, a mini-concert, among others, a painting of the fight against breast cancer was sold at auction at the value of 6 million FCFA.

For the reward of the winners of the 3rd edition of the fraternity tournament, the final took place on September 8 with the coronation of AS BAD, the winner left with the sum of 2 million FCFA and the unfortunate finalist one million FCFA.

The fair play team and the best player pocketed 500,000 FCFA and 250,000 FCFA respectively. The foundation also donated one million FCFA to the district which hosted the tournament.

The fraternity tournament saw its launch on August 18, 2024 and recorded the participation of 20 teams.
