Center Europe Direct Côte d’Azur celebrates its 3rd anniversary

Review of the first three years

The Europe Direct Center of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, inaugurated three years ago, has established itself as a central player in the promotion of European values ​​at the local level.

Thanks to its awareness-raising actions and educational events, it has reached a wide audience, bringing together more than 30,000 citizens.

Its initiatives aim to raise awareness of the European Union, its functioning, and its funding.

The center has been able to adapt to different audiences: college students, entrepreneurs, communities and citizens in general, thus promoting dialogue between European institutions and local stakeholders.

Since 2021, the CED’s actions have revolved around various events, such as information forums, practical workshops, and meetings with European experts.

Programme 2024

To celebrate its third anniversary, the Europe Direct Center in Nice Côte d’Azur presents a rich program for the year 2024, reflecting its commitment to bringing Europe closer to its citizens.

Starting October 9, a series of weekly events, titled “European Wednesdays”will be open to young people, with the aim of introducing people to the European Union in a fun and interactive way. This program targets adolescents in particular.

Another highlight of this program will take place on October 14 with the « ERASMUS DAYS » at Louis Nucera College. This event will combine sport and disability awareness, highlighting Paralympic sport with the participation of associations such as Handicap International. Students will also be able to discover the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ program, thus encouraging an opening to Europe from middle school.

The celebration of Franco-German friendship will also be at the heart of the festivities, with the organization of the‘Oktoberfest on the Port of Nice on October 25. This festive event will highlight the links between the two nations, through activities, food trucks and concerts.

In November, two major events will mark the agenda: a round table at the Nice Observatory on the European Union’s space policy and the launch of the Ariane 6 rocket, as well as an initiative to waste collection entitled “Europa Clean”in partnership with Nice Plogging. This action is part of European Waste Reduction Week and aims to raise citizens’ awareness of European environmental issues.

Other cultural initiatives will punctuate the end of the year, such as the competition “Young people sing about Europe” which will take place at the Black Blox in Nice, offering winners the opportunity to go to Brussels to discover the European institutions.

Finally, in December, a film forum around the film “Simone, the journey of the century” will be organized at the Cinéma Variété, followed by an exchange between high school students and public figures, including Jean Veil.

Beyond these events, the Europe Direct Center in Nice Côte d’Azur intends to continue its mission of informing and supporting local stakeholders on European issues.

The presentation of the 2024 highlights was carried out in the presence of Magali Altounian, Deputy Mayor of Nice, delegate for European Affairs and the city’s outreach.

The Europe Direct Center in Nice Côte d’Azur has become a key player in promoting European Union actions at local level. In three years, he has succeeded in establishing a strong link between European institutions and citizens.
