[Contre-attaque] Does Philippine’s death have nothing to do with immigration as Mediapart claims?

In a long article devoted to criticism of the “far right” and the demonstration organized by Némésis, the far-left media Mediapart tried to demonstrate that there was no link between immigration and violence against women, particularly regarding the death of Philippine : « the latest study, published last March, from the statistical service of the Ministry of the Interior counts, in 2023, nearly 84,000 victims of sexual violence recorded by the police, outside the family context. The accused are 96% men. Among them, 87% are of French nationality. Foreigners would therefore represent 13% of authors – while they represent 8.2% of the population. There is therefore a slight over-representation, but it is completely ineffective in explaining the extent of sexual violence suffered by women in France. »

Foreigners overrepresented everywhere in Europe

Based exclusively on public and official statistics, the X Marc Vanguard account has compiled information on the year 2022 from no less than seven European countries.

We learn, for example, thatin France, foreigners – who represent 8% of the total population – are responsible for 15% of rapes, 20% of domestic violence and 18% of sexual exhibitions. Generally speaking, those accused of sexual violence are 1.8 times more represented among foreigners and 2.5 times more for foreigners of African origin.
