Increase in APL, small pensions, gas prices… What changes on October 1: News

Several changes are expected from Tuesday, including the rise in gas prices, the revaluation of APL, certain pensions, or the reduction in the maximum speed on the ring road… Overview of these new features.

Like every month, many changes in terms of prices, health and even the protection of your personal data will take place in October. First of all, some bad news: gas prices are starting to rise again, after a slight drop in September. We note an increase of 5.37% per megawatt hour, which goes from 130.21 euros to 137.20 euros. Hot water, heating, and even cooking, essential for the upcoming season, are increasing by one cent on average per kWh, reports Moneyvox, cited by The Parisian.

APLs and certain upgraded pensions

On the good news side, the increase in APL should bring some relief to the hearts of certain beneficiaries. Applied each year, this new increase in housing assistance for the most precarious should this year be around 3.26% on average. A few extra euros which will be automatically added to the monthly transfer, without any steps to take.

Retirement pensions will also increase a little for 850,000 full-career retirees with a small pension. On average, those affected will receive 50.94 euros more per month, and, for some, up to 100 euros more gross per month.

Rise and fall in

Another increase this time concerns SUV drivers in the capital: the price of parking will increase in Paris and even triple, as predicted by the outcome of the consultation on the question of taxation of these vehicles in the Parisian districts. The speed on the Paris ring road, which increases to a maximum of 50 km/h to reduce pollution, may, on the other hand, not enchant the residents of Ile-de-. However, the verbalizations will not take place on Tuesday: “There will be a transition period”promised the first deputy mayor of Paris, Patrick Bloche, quoted by our colleagues from Parisian. This new limitation will be by zone, and will be generalized from October 10.

An extra layer of security against scams

In terms of data security, the government is announcing a tightening of the screws on telephone fraud attempts. “As of October 1, it will no longer be possible to falsify a telephone number to pretend to be a bank advisor”explains the government website. According to the Naegelen law, passed in 2020, a call authentication system must be deployed by telephone operators.

Time and vaccines, winter essentials

Like every year, the winter period begins with vaccines against flu and Covid-19. The campaign will be launched on October 15, and people at risk – the sick, the youngest and those over 65 – are invited to lead the way. The vaccine remains free, fully reimbursed by Health Insurance, in most of these cases.

Many are already wondering, and here is the answer: the switch to winter time will take place on Sunday October 27. Like every year, the rule remains the same, you will have to set your clocks back one hour. At 3 a.m., it will therefore be two o’clock. A welcome extra hour of sleep.
