This Saturday, April 27, the city center of Givors experienced a series of violent incidents in the evening. Two municipal police vehicles were set on . Groups of young people caused confusion. There were no victims.

The evening of this Saturday, April 27 was marked by several incidents in the city center of Givors. Two municipal police vehicles and two others from the town hall caught fire.

According to the Prefecture, everything started at the end of the afternoon. Five minors, aged 12 to 16, attacked another. Quickly arrested, four of them were placed in police custody.

“In retaliation, groups of individuals set an ambush”. Around 11 p.m., mortar fire and trash fires were noted. The fire spread to vehicles parked near the town hall. Two police vehicles and two other municipal vehicles were set on fire. The Rhône Prefecture on social networks has “strongly condemned this violence” and announced police reinforcements.

The facade of the town hall was damaged. The incidents did not cause any casualties. There were reportedly no arrests following this violence.

The mayor, iinterviewed this Sunday by our colleagues from Le Progrès, said “shocked”. He adds : “we really do a lot of things on the issue of youth, we are one of the rare cities that does the same”. He hopes that justice will convict the troublemakers.

Givors, a town located south of , has around 20,000 inhabitants.
