We have already mentioned this very sad story of which two families were victims who were hoping to spend a holiday at the North Sea. Sarah, from Brussels, and Sandrine, from Liège, are honest mothers, who do not live on wealth and who want, above all, the happiness of their children.

The latter dreamed of going on vacation to the sea. The mothers both came across the same ad, an apartment with a sea view at a price corresponding to their budget. They paid the deposit and went to La Panne with their little family.

The shock, the apartment does not exist! “I was ready to sleep in the dunes, my son was so sad”, said one. As for the other, she managed to find other accommodation.

Spendthrift

The alleged scammer did not appear at the hearing. Jason finally came to justice. “It was stupid, my partner was pregnant, we were on the street, I was looking for money”, he said.

The public prosecutor notes that he also spent a lot on games of chance. “These are very unpleasant facts for victims who are not rolling in gold and who appear, for the third time, in court with the hope of being reimbursed.”, grumbled the deputy prosecutor. Jason still hasn’t returned a cent.

A Montois ruins two families’ vacations at the North Sea: renting an apartment on Marketplace is never a good idea…

A one-year sentence, suspended, is requested. Jason has no criminal record, but since the incident he has been cited for burglary, receiving stolen property and aggravated theft.

Not a professional scammer

Me Locoge, his lawyer, presents a chaotic life story. Jason left school very early. His parents kicked him out of their home. He moved in with his girlfriend’s parents, whom he quickly knocked up. The two young people found themselves in the street. They found accommodation, the rent of which ate up more than half of their income. “He was not a professional scammer because he gave his name and account number to victims”, relates his lawyer, who pleads for a simple suspension of the sentencing.

Jason found a job as an article 60. The court advises him to reimburse the victims quickly.

Judgment in a month.
