He is the only member of the new government to come from the left. Didier Migaud, appointed Minister of Justice on Saturday 21 September, has ties to Nièvre. Specifically to Château-Chinon, where he spent his childhood.

Michel Barnier appointed Didier Migaud as Keeper of the Seals on Saturday, September 21, to succeed Éric Dupond-Moretti.A former socialist MP, he chaired the Court of Auditors for ten years before ensuring the integrity of elected officials at the head of the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life.

Originally from Indre-et-, he spent part of his childhood in Château-Chinon. He attended primary and secondary school in the Morvan capital. His father worked there as a notary. “The family settled in Château-Chinon and I always knew Mr. Migaud as a notary,” recalls Patrice Joly, senator for Nièvre. “That was until about twenty years ago.” Then, he headed to for his high school years.

The Keeper of the Seals maintains ties in Nièvre. Indeed, “his brother Christian, who today lives in Nevers, was a general practitioner in the office of René-Pierre Signé [ancien sénateur de la Nièvre et maire de Château-Chinon] adds Chantal-Marie Malus, mayor of Château-Chinon.

Patrice Joly has crossed paths with Didier Migaud twice in his career. “When he was the first president of the Court of Auditors and I was an advisor to the regional chamber of auditors of the Centre-Limousin region. And when he was a member of parliament for Isère and president of the national association of elected representatives of the mountains.”

« He had helped Nièvre in its efforts to have municipalities classified as mountain areas and for Morvan to be included in the Massif Central.

The elected representative from Nièvre maintains a good image of the current minister. “On a human level, he is someone honest, respectful and pleasant,” he confides. “On a political level, we’ll see what he can bring to the new government. »

“Didier Migaud rubbed shoulders with François Mitterrand, who apparently gave him a leg up in politics,” continues Chantal-Marie Malus. On December 31, 2010, Didier Migaud was appointed Commander of the National Order of the Legion of Honor. Three and a half years later, he returned to Morvan to present René-Pierre Signé, who succeeded François Mitterrand as mayor of Château-Chinon, with the distinction of Officer in the same order.
