(Updated with details)

The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah during an airstrike on Friday on the headquarters of the Lebanese movement in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has yet to make a statement on the fate of Hassan Nasrallah, who has led the movement for 32 years.

The Israeli army “eliminated (…) Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the terrorist organization Hezbollah”, wrote Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee in a statement published on the social network X.

“Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world,” adds the Israeli army on X.

Israel launched a new wave of airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and other areas of Lebanon on Saturday, a day after massive bombardments on Dahieh, the southern suburbs of Beirut.
