ISRAEL – « We choose life over total, endless war. » Families of Hamas hostages captured during the October 7 attack demonstrated this Thursday, September 19 in Tel Aviv to denounce the strategy of their leaders. Over the past two days, attacks have targeted Lebanon and more specifically members of Hezbollah, causing dozens of deaths and more than 3,000 injured according to the Lebanese authorities in a series of explosions. While Israel has not commented on this operation, which was clearly coordinated and prepared for a long time, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant assured in the aftermath that the ” center of gravity ” of the war is ” move north “.

A strategy that is contested by relatives of hostages who took to the streets, as you can see in the video at the top of the article. They regularly demonstrate to criticize the policies of Benjamin Netanyahu and his government, accusing him of not doing everything to conclude an agreement allowing the release of the hostages.

We carry out our tasks simultaneously »

The main objectives displayed so far by Israel have been the destruction of Hamas, which has been in power in Gaza since 2007, and the return of the hostages held in the Palestinian enclave since the bloody attack by the Islamist movement, which triggered this resurgence of the war in Gaza.

Since the resumption of clashes, Hezbollah has opened a front on the border with Israel, in a gesture of support for Hamas. “We are doing our tasks simultaneously” to the north and to the south, and “Our task is clear: to ensure the safe return of the northerners to their homes”defended Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defense minister. These remarks were echoed by the prime minister and the Israeli chief of staff, General Herzi Halevi, in separate statements.

Of the 251 people abducted during the October 7 attack, 97 are still being held in Gaza, 33 of whom are considered dead by the Israeli military.
