Prime Minister Michel Barnier has completed a good part of his cabinet at Matignon, notably with a former LR deputy in charge of defense and a former ambassador for diplomacy, according to the Official Journal published on Tuesday.

His chief of staff, Jérôme Fournel, former chief of staff of Bruno Le Maire and close to Alexis Kohler, the secretary general of the Élysée, was already appointed last week.

The prefect and former interministerial delegate for the Olympic Games Michel Cadot, once mentioned for the head of the office, will be an advisor, responsible in particular for territories, government affairs and the associative world.

For diplomacy, the Prime Minister appointed Caroline Ferrari, former ambassador to Denmark (2018-2021).

François Cornut-Gentille, who was a member of parliament (LR) for Haute- for 29 years, has become head of the defence department.

Former LR MEP and ex-DGSE agent Arnaud Danjean recently announced in Le Figaro that he was going to become a special advisor, particularly on defence and Europe.

Michel Barnier is retaining Emmanuel Puisais-Jauvin, Secretary General for European Affairs, for European affairs, who was already an advisor on this issue to Elisabeth Borne and Gabriel Attal.

Michel Barnier retains advisors Frédéric Joram (Overseas) and Paul Teboul (Economy and Industry).

The prefect of Eure and former deputy chief of staff of Nicolas Sarkozy, Simon Babre, will lead the interior department.
