Barely presented, the iPhone 16 could already be copied by these three Android smartphone brands

Three Android smartphone manufacturers would like to integrate a new button on the edge of some of their future models. It would take over the operation of the Camera Control button of the iPhone 16. If Apple is not the first to integrate one, it is the one that democratizes it, as is often the case.

The iPhone 16 has a new button, in addition to the Action button that arrived last year on the Pro models: the Camera Control button. It allows you to open the camera, change camera settings and of course take photos. It is often said that Apple does not innovate, but democratizes technologies and new ideas. This may be the case once again: Android smartphone manufacturers would like their own Camera Control button.

These three brands that want their new button like the iPhone 16

As reported Tom’s Guideit was Nubia who indicated last week that they wanted a camera button. The announcement comes more precisely from a publication on the Chinese social network Weibo by its president. He declared that the next Z70 Ultra (high-end model) would have such a button. We also learned that this button will have a two-step shutter function: one click to focus, then another to take the photo. Exactly like on a ” TRUE » camera in short.

Another brand, but this time it is a leak. The leaker Ice Universe has reported that Oppo’s upcoming Find X8 smartphones will feature such a button. In fact, according to Android Authorityit would be called the ” Quick Button » (« quick button » in French). Moreover, these Find X8s would rival the iPhone 16 Pro in terms of performance. For these two models, it is not known whether it will be a touch button allowing sliding gestures.

Last brand, affiliated with Oppo (via the BBK Electronics group), Realme. Also on Weibo, the latter published a video that shows a camera button on a Realme smartphone that we do not yet know. We see Chase Xu, the vice president of Realme zooming by sliding his finger on the button. And by pressing it, he manages to take the photo.

Apple is not the first to offer a button to use the camera

Apple is far from being the first brand to integrate a shutter button for the camera of its smartphones. For many years, Sony, known for its attachment to photography, has also equipped its models with a button. This is the case for example of the Sony Xperia 1 VI released last May, which also focuses on photography. In the past, other brands have used this practice, such as Nokia or HTC for example.

Maybe in a few years, almost all high-end smartphones will have a shutter button. Where manufacturers will have to differentiate themselves is in the features linked to this button: will they allow zooming in/out, changing settings, etc.?
