Significant rainfall is expected in Haute-Corse on Tuesday, September 17. According to Météo-France forecasts, a rainstorm from Italy will reach Corsica at the end of the day, and will become very active in the department until Wednesday evening.
The official meteorological service has thus placed the department on orange alert for storms and rain-flooding from 8 p.m. This alert will remain in effect until Wednesday 9 p.m. This rain-storm episode will be the subject of special monitoring.because of its intensity and duration,” explains Météo-France.
The consequences of storm Boris
According to initial forecasts, heavy rain will begin this Tuesday afternoon, becoming stormy in the evening. Sustained hourly intensities of between 20 and 30 mm per hour are expected. These rains will continue until at least Wednesday evening. “The expected accumulations for the episode are of the order of 80 to 100mm generalized, with up to 150mm locally or even a little more”adds Météo-France.
The heavy rainfall is the result of the movement of storm Boris towards northern Italy. A total of 18 people have died in central and eastern Europe and thousands of people have been affected.
