HASAt the outset of the reflection around this work, there was a desire to facilitate the accessibility of the places to the agents. When I arrived in 2019, I identified some issues, from there, we started to think about building a building upgrade project “, explains Jean-Marc Cachot, director of the center.

The work was divided into 2 phases. The first, completed, saw the installation of access management, securing of spaces, establishment of a digital lab, catering area for employees carried out by volunteer residents, installation of a lift and an emergency exit staircase with a waiting platform for people with reduced mobility.

A second phase in progress

With the residents and elected officials, we want to do our utmost to ensure that this place is identified as a beacon in the neighborhood. “, explains Jean-Marc Chaudron. With the development and expansion of the kitchen, the installation of a fence from the back to the front of the center leading to the creation of an aromatic garden, the refreshing of the center's four activity rooms and its exterior and the repainting of the corridors. The end of the work is planned in the next six months.

In terms of financing, the cost of the two phases of work would amount to 370,000 and 380,000 euros respectively, with, for phase 1, 71% co-financing (55% by the city and 16% by the CAF) and for phase 2, a contribution from the city of 76,000 euros and a search for financing on the part of the CAF and the DPV.

Very involved volunteer residents

Residents are giving their time to improve the centre of their neighbourhood. Six or seven people take part in the project for five or six weeks a year. They are supervised and can rely on the city's technical services. “, explains Daniel Gloriant, president of the local council.

We asked ourselves the question of how to integrate a global project while leaving the inhabitants in the maneuver. There are certain projects that are delegated to the inhabitants so that they are actors of this change, in a spirit of solidarity, meeting, exchange. Social bonds are created and knowledge is transmitted, it is very strong “, adds Jean-Marc Chaudron.
