It was a little after three in the morning when two heavy goods vehicles collided in a north-south direction. They were both driving on the same lane. The first, an exceptional convoy, was traveling at 50 km per hour when the second arrived behind it, traveling at 90 km/h, and hit it. Had the driver fallen asleep or felt unwell? The investigation will have to determine this. Still, the violence of the impact considerably deformed its cabin. It took no less than three hours for the 27 firefighters mobilized to extricate him. He was then taken into care and transported to Limoges University Hospital in a state of absolute emergency. The driver and passenger of the exceptional convoy struck were unhurt and their truck suffered almost no damage.

Consequence of the accident: the A20 motorway is currently closed to traffic in the area. A diversion has been set up between exit 36 ​​of La Valoine and interchange 42 in Meuzac via the Saint-Yrieix road, the RD704. A major traffic jam has formed on the highway south of Limoges. At the time of writing, the damaged vehicles and emergency services have been evacuated. A sweeper came into action to clean the road. The A20 should reopen around 11 a.m.
