The government decided to file a complaint for “public insult in front of a public official” against Jean-Luc Mélenchon, for having compared the president of the University of Lille to the Nazi dignitary Adolf Eichmann, after the cancellation of the conference he was to hold with the Franco-Palestinian activist and European candidate Rima Hassan.
