Before his concert this Saturday evening at the Château de Chambord, DJ David Guetta expressed his surprise at not having been called for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: “On a global level, I am still between the 4th and 15th most listened to artist in the world. But no one has called me. And yet I am French and I love France.”

DJ David Guetta, who is due to perform in concert on Saturday evening at the prestigious Château de Chambord, expressed his astonishment at not having been called for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games on July 26. On the lawns in front of the Château de Chambord, many admirers of the DJ wondered why the artist was not expected for the big Parisian ceremony.

“Nobody called me. And yet I am French and I love France”

“If you have the answer, you’ll give it to me. Because I don’t understand at all. Worldwide, I’m still between the 4th and 15th most listened to artist in the world, not a DJ artist” , declared David Guetta, 56, to an AFP correspondent before the giant concert. “To give you an idea, Beyoncé must be 40th or 50th. But no one called me. And yet I am French and I love France. That’s how it is!”, he added.

Only around ten people know the exact scenario of the spectacle of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which will last 3 hours 45 minutes and which will begin at 7:30 p.m. and intends to “break the codes” by being held for the first time outside a stadium, according to the Games Organizing Committee. The ceremony’s soundtrack includes the creations of musical director Victor Le Masne, mixing pop, symphony orchestra, choirs and electro loops typical of “French Touch”. It will also draw on “other registers”, according to its designer Thomas Jolly, who reveals nothing but for whom “France is at the same time Jul, Edith Piaf and Nathalie Dessay”.
