For this first two-day Draft, it is Jonathan Mogbo who was called first in this second round by Mark Tatum, to join the Raptors with the 31st choice. In the process, it is Kyle Filipowski who was called by the Jazz, he who was expected more in the first round.
For the rest, with more time to decide (four minutes), the choices changed hands a lot, none of them being finally made by their original franchise. And it took until the 51st choice to see Melvin Ajinça to be drafted. By the Mavericks!
But the choice that everyone was waiting for was of course the 55th, that of the Lakers. And without much surprise, and while Rich Paul threatened other interested teams to play his client in Australia if they selected him, Los Angeles ultimately opted for Bronny James. For the first time in NBA history, a father/son duo will play on the same team next year because there is no longer any doubt that the “King” will now extend his contract with the “Purple & Gold”. And realize his last dream in the Big League.
