The Swiss continue their dominance, achieving their fifth consecutive downhill victory.
In addition to the Swiss fans celebrating the success of Odermatt and Von Allmen, the Slovenian fans are also happy. Hrobat took care of the second Slovenian ski podium this season and the best Slovenian ranking in Wengen. Previously, Andrej Jerman was the highest Slovene on this downhill with fourth place in 2011.
Hrobat started first among the skiers and started number one, which is very important because of the shadow on the track, he took advantage of it – with an excellent performance he took the lead, with a time of 2:23.15 he was in first place for a long time. He was overtaken only by the Swiss Franjo von Allmen, the winner of yesterday’s super giant slalom. This was then pushed out of the first place by compatriot Marco Odermatt, who stayed on top until the end.
“At the start, I thought 2:25 would be a good time and I reached the finish line with a time of 2:23, which is excellent. Unfortunately, two better Swiss guys overtook me, I’ll probably still be ‘Swiss’. Whether it will be third place or not, I don’t know, but I’m happy, good ride and good day” he said for TV Slovenija.
-He said about the specialty of Wengen: “It’s the longest downhill course in the World Cup. The section at Hundschopf is the best for me. I like the skating part, you have to prepare well for several turns and then persevere until the end.”
The ski test was temporarily suspended due to the fall of Vincent Kriechmayr, the Austrian finished the test prematurely, and further medical examinations will show the severity of the injury.
Martin Čater had starting number 28, and Nejc Narločnik 49.
On Sunday, there will be a slalom on the Männlichen slope (10.15/13.15).
