A few moments after the match, the Monegasque right-back and striker presented themselves in the mixed zone to try to analyze the defeat on penalties against Stade de Reims (1-1, 3 TAB to 1).
They failed to find the solution. Returning in the second half after conceding the opener in the first act, the Rouge et Blanc ended up giving in during the penalty shootout in Reims, on the pitch of the Stade Auguste Delaune (1-1, 3 TAB to 1). A cruel scenario evoked by Lucas Michal, author of his first professional start, and Jordan Teze in the mixed zone. Excerpts ????️
Good evening Lucas. How did you experience this first tenure?
It was a great pleasure for me to do my first with my training club. AS Monaco is my favorite club, so it was fantastic to start today. Even if we are obviously very disappointed with the result, because we wanted to go far in this competition, so it hurts to be eliminated in the round of 16.
I was aligned in attack with Breel Embolo who is a fixation player, so I had to turn around him, go behind his back, go deep, and that’s what we tried to do in the first half .

How did you feel on the pitch?
I felt good, I know my football and the coach told me to play like I know how to do with the Elite Group, so I wasn’t afraid. My goal was to give maximum effort for the team, repeat runs, defend and attack.

How would you describe yourself in the field?
I am a player who works harder, who likes to strike, to play one-on-one on the side, but I can also play in the middle to turn around a second attacker. At the start of my training, I had difficulty playing up front, but over time, I learned thanks to the different coaches who had me at La Diagonale, that I could play in a two-man attack. .
I try to adapt to the professional group. It’s never easy at the beginning, because everything goes much faster compared to the youth categories. The older you get, the more important statistics become, and I’m starting to understand that.

How is your apprenticeship going at AS Monaco?
I try to adapt to the professional group. It’s never easy at the beginning, because everything goes much faster compared to the youth categories. The older you get, the more important statistics become, and I’m starting to understand that. To survive at the high level, the attacker must be in front of goal and be able to score as soon as possible. There is really a world of difference between the youth teams and the professionals, it really goes very quickly.
Jordan Teze’s reaction
“The penalties were not taken well this evening. The players know it’s a difficult exercise, but that’s football. We could have won the match before this session, because we had chances to lead. I’m really disappointed this evening, because everyone at the Club wants to win a title and that is no longer possible in the Coupe de France. We remain positive despite everything and want to focus on the next match in Montpellier on Friday. »
