He has been more discreet in recent years. Jean-Marc Barr, revealed in the film The Big Blue by Luc Besson, is currently starring in the television series Shoresbroadcast on France 2. On the occasion of this news, the person looked back on his career, in the new issue of 7 Days TV. “The Big Blue was a huge gift to me”, he admitted, before emphasizing: “But I wanted to not only be spotted for one role.”
However, despite the success of this film released in 1988, Jean-Marc Barr did not make a career in the United States. He explained this choice: “My father fought three wars for the United States. He was able to retire and buy us a beautiful house on the Californian coast, with a view of the sea. I already had the American dream.”, he assured. “My American agent told me to play there because I could make ten times more money. But I already have everything I need. Money is dangerous, it can kill the artist”, underlined the 64-year-old actor.

Since he became known for his role in The Big BlueJean-Marc Barr evolves far from the star system. It is also far from the spotlight that the latter built his family life. Since 2014, he has shared his life with Stella di Tocco, an Italian director. The two met during the Angers Festival in 2014. “She had won a prize. She is a director, and I was presenting a film by Lars Von Trier”he explained to Pure People the following year.
Now aged 48, Stella di Tocco first studied political science at the University of Rome. She then moved to Madrid, Spain and earned a degree in directing at ECAM, as reported Pure People. Between 2005 and 2007, she worked as an assistant director for cinema and theater. In 2008, she directed her first film entitled Sun spots (Sun spots in French, editor's note) which will be rewarded in several festivals. A year after their meeting, Stella di Tocco and Jean-Marc Barr were already preparing to become parents. The young woman will give birth to Jude on August 9, 2015.
