A major NHL trade came very close to happening between the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Rangers involving star players.
Throughout the National Hockey League, we hear a lot about the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks in terms of trade rumors with the failures they are experiencing.
Virtually every Rangers player has been made available on the market, according to rumors. General manager Chris Drury appears ready to dismantle his core after a very disappointing first portion of the season.
The Canucks are reportedly struggling with an intense disagreement between the two star players, JT Miller and Elias Pettersson. The two forwards are not at all on the same wavelength and it is becoming more likely that one of the two will leave Vancouver soon, according to what we hear.
Moreover, a huge transaction was aborted between the two teams. Rangers center Mika Zibanejad was dealt to the Canucks in exchange for JT Miller.
One on one.
The Canucks refused and the trade did not happen. See the details of this aborted exchange, right here:
Canucks refuse to deal JT Miller for Rangers’ Mika Zibanejad
JT Miller could have made a return to New York. The tough forward was drafted in the first round of the 2011 draft by the Rangers and played almost six seasons in the Big Apple before being traded to the Lightning and then the Canucks.
He has 29 points in as many games this season. He’s the kind of character player that Rangers are missing.
Swedish center Mika Zibanejad had 24 points in 39 games and the Canucks refused to have him. At least against Miller.
I can understand. Maybe the Canucks want to destroy the duo of JT Miller and Elias Pettersson, but trade the latter rather than the former.
