There are years with good surprises, years a little less generous… And in 2025, will we be able to benefit from many public holidays and take advantage of it to make long weekends ?

Good news: you will have many opportunities this year to optimize your leave. Here are all the holidays, bridges and opportunities to extend them.

January

Well, it's true, January 2025 has already started so this advice falls a bit short. With the January 1 public holiday (New Year's Day), some have already taken the lead.

In fact, by setting aside your Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January 2025, you could create a bridge and enjoy five days of rest. Ideal for starting the year off right!

Avril

Let's jump ahead in the year to arrive at avril 2025. At the end of the month, we celebrate Easter (April 20) then Easter Monday (the 21st).

The lucky ones will manage to take the week from Tuesday April 22 to Friday April 25, 2025 (and get a full week off). You can also bet on a four-day weekend, by setting your Friday April 18, 2025 or your Tuesday April 22, 2025.

May

Next comes the much-loved month of Maywith three public holidays in 2025: the 1ᵉʳ mai, the 8 mai and the 29 mai. This year, the good news starts from day one.

With the labor day which falls a THURSDAY this year, you can potentially enjoy a long weekend by setting aside Friday May 2, 2025. For those with a sweet tooth, you can also combine Monday April 28, Tuesday April 29 and Wednesday April 30 to offer yourself a full week of leave.

Rebelote it May 8. As the victory of 1945 is celebrated THURSDAY in 2025, you can take Friday (May 9) to bridge the gap. Or take the first three days of the week (May 5 to 7) to benefit from a full week of vacation.

Or (let's be crazy!), by taking your Friday May 2, your Friday May 9 and taking leave from the 5th to the 7th, you have more 10 days of vacation… with only five days left.

Now let's move on to the end of the month. THE May 29, 2025which corresponds to Ascension, it is also… a THURSDAY. So same pattern: you can take Friday the 30th off (and have a long four-day weekend).

You can also take the start of the week (and count five days off, between Saturday May 24 and Thursday May 29). Or play big, with four days off and nine days of vacation in total from Saturday May 24 to Sunday June 1, 2025 inclusive).

June

Summer is just around the corner…and do you know what that means? Here comes Pentecost and the Pentecost Monday. In 2025, it falls on June 9.

Since a law of 2004 (instituted after the heatwave of 2003) and measures taken in 2008, Pentecost Monday has been a public holiday can be worked unpaid – we often speak of “Solidarity Day”.

July

National Daywhich is held every year on July 14is fixed at a Monday in 2025. So good news: we're serving you a three-day weekend on a silver platter.

Take days the week before or days after July 14, and you have summer vacation.

August

One month after July 14, it's the turn of the Assumption. This year, this holiday falls on Friday August 15, 2025. Or a new long weekend, which can serve as a solid basis for taking a longer vacation.

From August 11 to 14 or the week of August 18, 2025: it's up to you to choose the period you prefer to optimize your vacation this summer.

November

Small leap in time, since we have to wait until November to see two new public holidays appear: 1ᵉʳ (for All Saints’ Day) and November 11th (for the Armistice in 1918).

First scenario (unfortunate), November 1, 2025. “Unfortunate”, because this holiday falls on a Saturday: not necessarily very interesting for the majority of us to plan a long weekend.

The November 11, 2025on the other hand, is fixed at a mardi. If you take Monday, November 10, 2025, it's time for four days off (with only one day off). You can also book the weekend (and try a full week of vacation).

December

The last month of the year only offers one public holiday – and not the least, since it is Christmas. See you on Thursday December 25, 2025.

With this public holiday arriving in the middle of the week (like in 2024, where Christmas was on a Wednesday), you can modulate your vacation. Setting aside Friday, December 26, 2025 allows you to have four days of official leave; stopping the start of the week (from Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 December) gives you six days of vacation in a row.

By taking four days off, you can therefore arrive at… nine days of vacation.
