A serious fire broke out this Friday January 3, 2025 in Besançon (Doubs), rue Jean Dubuffet. A large fire brigade was deployed to fight the flames. An octogenarian unfortunately lost his life in the accident.

A tragedy occurred in Besançon, in the Planoise district, this Friday, January 3. It was almost 7 p.m. when the Doubs firefighters responded to a violent fire in a home. The fire broke out on the first floor of this small building on rue Jean Dubuffet, to the west of the city.
On site, firefighters had to call on the expertise of 23 professionals to control the flames. Two hoses were used to extinguish the fire.
When emergency services arrived, the apartment where the fire started was completely engulfed in smoke. An 81-year-old man was discovered in the rubble; firefighters were unable to revive him. He was finally pronounced dead early in the evening.
An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the fire, the origin of which is currently unknown.
