Around 6:30 a.m., this Friday, January 3, a car drove into a group of three young men who were walking on a pedestrian and cycle section of rue Winston Churchill, near the Racker roundabout, in Vannes.
According to our colleagues from Ouest-France, two of the three pedestrians were violently struck. They were admitted in absolute emergency, one to the Vannes hospital center, the other to the Rennes University Hospital. According to our information, the victims are two boys aged 16 and 21. The third victim, who escaped the impact of the car, is in a pronounced state of shock.
The vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old born in Anjou, with several people on board, according to information from our colleagues from Ouest-France, was then “stuck” by a bus from the Vannes urban transport network.
The bus driver, who was on duty, managed to hold the car until the police arrived. According to the Kicéo network bus drivers that we contacted, their colleague, upset by what she then discovered, had not witnessed the tragedy. However, she saw the car speeding and sensed that the driver was fleeing. She decided to block him. The driver of the car was arrested and taken into custody.
Contacted, a source close to the investigation affirms that the facts took place following an argument between two groups of young people, inside a nightclub, the Zip Club. When one of the groups left the establishment on foot, the suspect allegedly took his car and hit it, a few hundred meters further.
