EDF is offering an interesting new offer to save money on your electricity bill. However, you should be careful, as you may not benefit from the reduction in regulated prices planned for the 1is FEBRUARY. We'll explain it to you.
The price of energy has continued to rise in recent years. This is valid for the fuel of thermal cars, but also for electricity, which saw sharp increasesand especially at the start of 2024. Some households have in fact seen their bill skyrocket by 22%!
A good, interesting plan on paper
Fortunately, this should no longer be just a bad memory, because from the 1is Next February, the price of kWh will see a drop of around 14%. A fall which will concern regulated tariffs (TRV), and which will be made possible by a contained increase in taxesmore than was initially planned by the government of Michel Barnier before its dissolution. Good news for all French people who have chosen this offer, who represent 76% of households currently.

Electricity suppliers: Comparison of the best offers
And that's not all, because it is also possible to take advantage of a new offer offered by EDF, which promises to provide you with significant savings on your electricity bill. This is available on the company's website, and it allows you to benefit from a fixed price on the kWh excluding VAT for two years. It is known as Zen Fixe, and the Dealabs website explains that it saves approximately 20% compared to the regulated rate in force since 1is February 2024.
Concretely, it is necessary to count only 17.53 cents per kWh in base rate at a power of 3 kVA. This new offer is valid from 1is last January. If you choose to opt for the off-peak hours option, it will cost 14.56 cents per kWh during off-peak hours, and 18.76 cents during peak hours. All for a 6 kVA contract.
For the record, the previous offer proposed by EDF displayed the base price at 20.64 cents per kWh including tax. This news is therefore more interesting on paper. Yes, but here it is, it is still advisable to take your time to think and not to start too quickly. Because if this discount seems very attractive on paper, everything is not so rosy either, and you might in fact not be that advantaged by subscribing to it.
No decline in 2025
For the record, the base option is displayed at 25.16 cents per kWh currently with EDF if you do not subscribe to the Zen Fixe offer. Suffice to say that the latter seems particularly interesting. But in reality it is not necessarily so. On its site, the energy supplier specifies that the Zen Fixe offer allows, as its name suggests, to benefit from a fixed price for two years. On paper, it's great. Except that, by choosing this formula, you will not benefit from the reduction of 1is FEBRUARY.
Of course, this also protects you from a possible increase, but that is only hypothetical since the trend is rather towards a fall. Furthermore, as the offer is below the regulated price, it is not eligible for this reduction in any case. You may end up paying more than if you had not subscribed to it. Please note, however, that the offer is valid for two years, butit can be canceled at any time. All at no cost according to EDF, which will allow you to put an end to it if it no longer suits you.
Also note that the price of the subscription, to be added to the cost of the kWh, is higher than in 2024, sinceit is displayed at 9.69 euros per month for the cheapest basic option. Before you start, remember to compare the different offers offered, especially since two other providers have also just launched interesting subscriptions. These are Mint Energy and Octopus Energy, which also offers 100% French electricity from renewable sources. An asset to also take into account, if you want to have more environmentally friendly consumption.
