Nurses from Pasteur 2 in Nice were fined when leaving their night shift when they crossed a white line at the exit of the staff and visitors car park. Instead of turning right and going up the Roman road – very congested during rush hours – and then going back down, the caregivers have gotten into the habit of “cutting” the central reservation and this famous white line. “We know that it's forbidden and that we're at fault, but after shift, it's complicated to get stuck in traffic. It saves us precious minutes when we're exhausted. We've been doing this for 9 years without the slightest warning…”, testified a caregiver.

“Dangerous driving”

Questioned, Jérôme Marcenac, the director of the municipal police, justifies: “The fines were drawn up on the basis of established and particularly dangerous offenses which were not contested by the motorists at fault. These dangerous behaviors were observed on several occasions and were the subject of complaints from the neighborhood committee.

However, the Nice security manager announces “an internal administrative investigation in order to find out the exact circumstances of these verbalizations and their concentration in a short period of time”.

And to specify: “The City of Nice will carry out a study to determine whether road development would be feasible. Christian Estrosi asked Gaël Nofri, his traffic assistant, to receive the staff on site. We specify, however, that no development will not be to the detriment of safety.”
