Piracy beaten and new promotion, DAZN comes back strong

Still struggling to attract subscribers, DAZN has reason to hope for progress in the months to come. On the American continent, authorities have ordered the closure of around a hundred illegal streaming sites. And for its part, the main broadcaster of Ligue 1 is offering a new promotion to fans.

Months pass and DAZN still refuses to communicate its official figures. But one thing is certain, it is that the streaming platform is far from its objectives. The main broadcaster of Ligue 1, which broadcasts eight matches live per day, does not seem able to reach the 1.5 million subscriber mark by December 2025. This is the target set to ensure the continuity of his commitment to the Professional Football League.

A hundred illegal sites closed

To explain their difficulties, DAZN managers highlight the trivialization of piracy in in recent months. They will therefore be reassured by learning of the decision rendered on the American continent. In fact, local authorities have obtained the closure of 138 illegal sites. These brought together more than 800,000 users in total who had access to paid channels such as DAZN, beIN Sports, Canal+ and the Netflix platform. Most users were located in the United States and Canada, but these sites were also accessible internationally.

It remains to be seen whether Ligue 1 fans now stuck will end up making peace with DAZN. The British company is doing everything to achieve this, in particular with repeated reductions. The partner of the Professional Football League has once again proposed an attractive offer. This time, new customers will be able to watch the second part of the French championship season for a total of 69 euros, or a monthly price of 13.80 euros for the last five months of competition. Enough to annoy the first subscribers who had agreed to pay 29.99 euros per month with a one-year commitment.
