KLM will send a plane to Oslo this afternoon to pick up passengers from the plane that made an emergency landing in southern Norway yesterday, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed. Last night they were taken to Oslo by bus. The travelers are accompanied by KLM both at the airport in Norway and at Schiphol.

The Boeing 737 was en route from Oslo to Amsterdam last night and made an emergency landing in southern Norway twenty minutes after take-off due to a malfunction. According to Norwegian media, pilots saw smoke coming from the left engine and were unable to control the plane after it landed. The aircraft skidded after landing and ended up in the grass next to the runway. No one was injured.

Loud noise

KLM says that “a loud noise was heard”, after which the pilots decided to divert to Torp Sandefjord airport. A passenger on the flight also heard this sound at take-off. “It was like something had been hit,” he says.

KLM’s technical team will arrive in Sandjefort today to investigate the incident together with local authorities and the airport. The airline will remove the aircraft as soon as possible, the spokesperson said.
