London, December 27 (Prensa Latina) Arsenal faces Ipswich today in their 18th match of the English Premier League, with the ambition of climbing to second place in the standings.

The London club currently sits in fourth position with 33 points, just one behind Nottingham Forest in third and two behind Chelsea, who are currently in second place.

Liverpool further solidified their lead on Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Leicester City.

Arne Slot’s side concluded the “Boxing Day” with a hard-fought win against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team, which took just six minutes to go ahead through Jordan Ayew. However, they could not withstand the pressure from the best team in Europe.

Before the break, the Reds equalized with a goal from Cody Gakpo in the first minute of stoppage time (45+1), then turned the match around thanks to goals from Curtis Jones (49) and Egyptian Mohamed Salah (82).

Despite having a game in hand, Slot’s team now boasts a seven-point lead over Chelsea and a 14-point advantage over Manchester City.

The Red Devils suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Premier League, conceding a goal from the South American player in the 58th minute, direct from a corner kick, and Cunha assisted South Korean Hwang Hee-chan for the second goal in stoppage time (90+9).

Last week, South Korean Heung-Min Son scored an Olympic goal against United in Tottenham’s 4-2 victory in the English League Cup quarter-finals.
