RTL GUEST – Vincent Lagaf: “I divided my fee by 5”

Bigdil is a game that requires good physical condition. 20 years later, for Vincent Lagaf, it was more complicated than at the time: “At 65 bars, you don't do the same thing as at 40, 42 years old, with all the accidents, operations and struggles that I had,” he explains. This time, the show is no longer broadcast in daily access, but in weekly prime-time. “It’s not in 60 minutes, but in 90 minutes. Doing 90 minutes three times is like doing a six-hour one-man show,” explains Vincent Lagaf, before confiding with a laugh: “I just got knocked up 30 prime time. I’m dead! They have to bring me the defibrillator, and there is the VSB (fire brigade, editor's note) waiting for me outside in front RTL“.

The energy of Bigdil is not the only characteristic that is reborn in 2024: “It's good The Bigdil of the first generation. We haven't changed a single comma: it's the same decor, the same lights, the same games, the same voice, the same gags.” insists the host.

An industrial challenge for RMC Story

If the program keeps its DNA, its return represents a major investment for RMC Story. Vincent Lagaf explains that spending remains far from the excesses of the past: “We are no longer in wasteful spending. Before, we could offer four cars a day. Now, we have partners who play the game, but we no longer spend without count”.

On his own stamp, Vincent Lagaf' plays the honesty card: “Me, I divided my fee by five. I didn't even do this for the money. I accepted because I needed to know what I was still capable of doing,” he admits, emphasizing that money was not a determining factor.

A daily one? “No, it’s firm and definitive”

As for a possible daily broadcast if the program is a hit, Vincent Lagaf' is categorical: “I won’t do it anymore, that’s clear. (…) If it works, they will certainly recommend 30 episodes for the following year, but no more,” he says.

One thing is certain: with this return, The Bigdil offers itself a second youth while remaining faithful to the spirit that made it successful.
